Asda is a good supermarket with reasonably priced foods and other necessities. The variety is good and the layout of the supermarket is very clear. Highly recommended!

Very good prices which includes petrol. The cleanness and customer service has improved over the years.
The 50p charge at the car park and the need to use coins for the trolleys is the annoying bit

Usually their staff is all right , compare to Morrisons , the price does not seem to me cheap at all. So I would prefer to go Morrisons rather than ASDA..

I find Asda a very convenient supermarket which offers a very wide range of products. I always go there together with my family for the food shopping and we love it.

Sounds a bit weird to write a review of Asda, but this place has so much cool food. The vegetable isle is full of really exotic produce ( probably for the hugely ethnically diverse population). Cant find anything similar in FOrtnums.

I’m sitting on the phone - from australia trying to find out what happened to my home delivery for my mum last monday….3.51 minutes
to answer. no-one returned my call.
no-one could find out why it wasn’t delivered… No-one can check the order, I’ve made 4 phonecalls that are now more expensive than the order requested and I’m going to order through waitrose!!!!

This ASDA is large and conveniently situated, with plenty of parking and close to Crossharbour DLR. It is open 24 hours, aside from on Sundays when it is open 11-5.
The parking is pay and display, 1 pound for up to 2 hours, but this is refunded when you spend over 5 pounds in store.
The store itself has a good selection of clothing, entertainment and household items, as well as a cafe, chemist and photobooth. The range of groceries is fairly good and the shelves are generally well stocked.
The customer toilets are a little on the scummy side but good when you just need to go!
The queues can sometimes be a bit on the long side but the staff are efficient and friendly. Trolleys and baskets are usually available, although you do need a pound coin for the trolleys which can be a bit inconvenient.
Self service tills are in place and generally work ok if you are only buying a few items.

If I could I would choose to shop in Asda all the time, but its not the nearest supermarket to me, so I just go there from time to time. Around the Canary Wharf area there really is only Waitrose (which is very expensive) and a small tescos, so Asda is much needed.
Okay, so I am sure there are nicer Asda shops around but this does the job. There is a good selection of food, you can pretty much find what you want here, and also a clothes section - which is a bit hit and miss and small section to buy flowers Blockbusters had closed down last time I was there.
I like the fact that it really is value for money. So much cheaper than other stores around. The staff are fine, and the queues go down quickly so you dont have to wait for ages. The only trouble i’ve ever had was when the person I was with was ID’d for a 15 film (she was 27 at the time) which was a bit of hassle!

This Asda store is large and convenient, right by the Crossharbour DLR station and with a good number of buses that stop by it - from the D3, D6 to the 135 which goes even further.
The store also has an electronics section selling things from cameras, games consoles to televisions and printers - everything a guy would want in his local supermarket.
The range and quality of food sold here is not bad either - fresh meat and veg along with many brands of frozen food.
The reason for the 3 star review is simply the extremely long queues that build up, the poor self check out machines that seem to be either down or crashing and the poor customer service (from the customer services counter to those that man the self checkout help desk).
If they could sort that out, things would be much better ….

I wouldn’t say it was the best ASDA supermarket I’ve been to… They have the basics what you need and at fairly good prices but lately the service seems to have gone down hill!
Here is one example of a visit where I was less than impressed due to a few problems…
On entering the ASDA car park from the Glengall Grove entrance I saw about 6 trolleys laying on their side where people just leave them there. Usually they are cleared away regularly throughout the day. On getting to the store front there were very few trolleys left in the park, and no smaller trolleys.
I walk into the store and there are no baskets. Usually there is somebody greeting you to give you a basket but there is nobody. Therefore, I have to go to the checkouts and try and get one, about 15 other people are trying to do this and it’s chaos.
Which now brings me on to the checkouts… They were packed. There weren’t too many open and each checkout had about 8 people waiting. I always use the self-checkouts so I thought I would be alright because that usually moves a bit faster. WRONG. They now have 8 self checkouts, fantastic!, but, there is only one person authorising any alcohol sales and fixing problems. Thus meaning it took about 5 minutes for somebody to come over and fix the weight problem because the bags were not set up properly.
Anybody that uses these self checkouts will know that if the bags are not put on the holders properly you can’t just put an item in them and scan your next, you have to take the bag off, open it and then put it back on. Because the weigh scales are so sensitive to recognise any products that haven’t been swiped this causes a problem.
I’ve had similar experiences to the above almost every time I have gone over there since the new manager. It used to be a great store, but compared to Dagenham and Romford stores this one is most definitely rubbish.

One of the best supermarkets in London. Not too big to get lost, not too small to not have the right stock. Open 24 hours (except Sunday, cos that is illegal if your store is over a certain size) and cheap. Stocking food, clothes, newspapers, magazines, a chemist and having a cafe means that ASDA is great for getting a few items in the local area. Did I mention, the Crossharbour DLR is about 2 minutes away? Very important when your in a hurry.

It’s an ASDA and I can’t imagine it’s too different from any other. We tend to buy our washing-up liquid, paper towels, canned food, beer, bottle water etc. here but go to Waitrose for produce and fish/meats.
The advantage is that it’s cheap, so for things that don’t matter where they are bought at, this is the place to get them.
The disadvantage is that it is almost always crowded unless you don’t have to work and can get there at 11am on a Tuesday. The queues are generally long.
I would recommend never buying anything that expires here without checking the expiry date. I’ve seen some egregious examples of stock not being rotated or checked - a block of cheddar cheese that expired over a month ago is not an uncommon find.
