perfect. nice fresh food. super quick service and a delicious meal. also serves king fisher pints on draft. top work.
Living in Hammersmith, there's a wide choice of Indian restaurants to choose from, of varying quality. I have a super take-away near me, and was a fairly loyal customer at the Spice Of Night just over Hammersmith Bridge. Tried this place with my dad first time last year and keep going back. Nothing spectacular here, but solid and good staples. Love the dhansak and the mrs likes it too. So everyone's a winner.
Unfailingly polite managers in black tie will recognise you on your second visit. The bills aren't fancy but the food's delicious. Try the chicken tandoori either as a starter or a main, it always comes sizzling hot and is as succulent as you could wish. All the dishes I have tried (most of the menu) come across as being full of fresh ingredients, and friends on their first visit always remark on this. You'll always get a table as it isn't as full as it should be, but those in the know return often. You couldn't wish for a better local Indian. It's a great place to go before or after visiting local cinemas, theatres, venues and of course the Westfield Centre. They do takeaways (they've got a website with their menu, www.rajofindia.com, but they don't deliver, which is a pity) and they're open at lunch (though the staff are dressed casually then). Decor is typical of the genre. I've never had any cause to complain about anything, and unlike so many Indian restaurants, I've never been disturbed by a rowdy crowd out on the town. You'll spend about £25 a head if you order way too much and have some beer or wine. 5 mins walk from Shepherd's Bush tube. Take the 220, 72, 295 or 283 from Hammersmith, get out at Blythe Road stop and walk on up another 100m.
Enjoy!
Plouisew They do deliver in the local area! This is the best curry house in London I think :o)

Raj of India is spectacularly ordinary; it's a classic curry house serving all the dishes you would expect, and looks like it was last decorated in the eighties.
Although the menu contains absolutely no surprises, I think it is the Raj's very pedestrian nature that is its strength.
Here you don't have to worry about getting to grips with any exotic new dishes or specials...there aren't any. You can order in your sleep and be pretty certain that what you choose will be exactly the same as last time you had it...and won't make you throw up.
You can turn up in your tracksuit on your own and not feel at all out of place, however busy it gets.
Best of all, you get an After Eight with the bill!
This curry house is absolutely delightful. The prices are very reasonable, the food is delicious, and the staff are always helpful and attentive.
The “chutneys and pickles” tray is outstanding, including some lovely “tandoori-fied” items. These work best with the plain rather than spicy poppadums.
The main courses etc are delicious. I love the house specials such as chicken chilli masala (quite spicy) and chicken achalli masala, but have been equally pleased with prawn saag and some lamb “gost” curries too.
In addition to the above special dishes, they also do more well-known dishes such as bhunas etc.
I also especially recommend their mushroom rice and channa masala.
Note for music fans (this is how I found out about this restaurant in the first place):
it’s five minutes walk from the Shepherds Bush Empire (which is one of the finest music venues in London) and approx ten minutes walk from the Hammersmith Apollo (previously Hammersmith Odeon).
Note for real ale fans:
it’s about five minutes walk from the “Brook Green Hotel” restaurant which does Youngs beers. At the time of writing, they have “Winter Warmer” on tap… nectar!
Highly recommended.
Love it! The food at Raj will stand up in a fight with most other Indian food in london, let alone the area. It really is the Indian restaurant to go to if you’re in Bush.
The prawn puree is fantastic and the chicken tikka masala is probably the best I’ve eaten anywhere. In fact, my friend who lives quite a way aways, swears by this tikka masala. She actually challenged someone once, refusing to believe a better one is made in london!
Good take out quality too, all in all, I’ll end as I started..love it!
This is where we would usually go for a local eat-out Indian meal until I was introduced to an establishment of equal quality but nearer to my house.
The Raj of India is nicely decked out. The outside has large white columns reminiscent slightly of Greek or Roman architecture. Or the Royal Exchange building - but smaller and whiter.
Inside is very spacious, crisp and clean. The service is very good, attentive but not overbearing. I cannot find fault with the food and the prices are alright.
I would probably recommend this Indian restaurant for a more romantic indian meal.
