Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 7 February 2012

Being brought up in Wimbledon, I have shared many a big occasion and small dinners here. The staf are second to none, but still keep it fun! The food is brilliant, one of wimbledons few little tresures tucked in the shadows of the theatre, perfect for anyone who wants good food.

Trying the footlong pizza is a must!!

Undoubtedly delicious. I experienced the Chef’s special, followed the waiters advice , and wrapped up off with a fantastic ice cream dish .

Classic cookery, served up in an unpretentious dining room without a great amount of fuss. The meat definitely speaks for itself, and though non-meat eaters may unearth their choice quite limited, it’s a carnivore’s bliss. A few of business-types here on a week day lunchtime, but the atmosphere was still fairly casual.

Program was helpful, attentive and regarded as without having to be pushy or stuffy. Will undeniably go back to try a number of the a bit more audacious meals

Can not knock this place – authentic pizza that tastes great in a great atmosphere.

Went last weekend with few friends visiting me from New York and they were impressed to. Nice decor inside and friendly staff – many authentic Italian that I like to see in a place to give a real deal feel!

I love this place. For anyone who wants amazing, authentic Italian without being in a “white tablecloth” fancy establishment.

A very nice place if you want to share a pizza with your friends or relatives. We celebrated two birthdays over there. The staff is friendly and bring their personal touch.

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 15 November 2010

I have moved in the area a few month ago and had yet to find a place I would really enjoy going for dinner to with a few friends....well I think I have found it!
This cute Italian resaturant offers one of the best service I have had in a We went there on a very busy Friday night and yet the staff (from the waiters to the chefs that we could see cooking from where we were) looked really relax, friendly and professional.
I would recommend the filet steak (with pepercorn or gorgonzola sauce) as it is really tender and delicious....that with a nice bottle of Italian red, amazing!

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 19 October 2010

I don't think this is terribly authentic the menu has been adapted for richer English palates. Let's face it its probably better for it or for us who expect more punch meals. This is its strength each dish is rich and deeper than an original the quality 90%of the time is great. I especially love the Penne Arrabiata simple yet packed with more garlic than is decent. Pizza fantastic but still pizza Euforia at Wimbledon Chase the best I had in London this a close 2nd. Service now far too loud on Saturday to be relaxed. Prefer it when the waiters just tried to Dance now loud music plays all night on sat I just go on the week or sin afternoon. Still really tasty food and good value. Also do take away.

great taste and servings
you need an empty tummy for this place.
I would definetly recomend this place as its reasonable prices aswell as great tasting so a good combo. The lasagna is lovely but my favourite dish is hte seafood rissotto, full of prawns clams and mussels. They also have some very nice deepfried calamari

Food was excellent with jovial staff. Only visit if you have a hearty apetite, as all the portions were large and bursting with flavour. A must for real Italian lovers!

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 7 September 2009

If you go to Al Fornos you can expect very friendly service and very big pizzas.

The staff can sometimes be friendlier than you might expect but that’s just because they’re Italian.

The small pizza is enough for a hungry person. The medium is enough for 2 hungry people. Don’t order the large if you’re sitting at a small table because you will have to move.

The pizzas are delicious and the banoffee dessert is fabulous.

Al forno is the best place to eat in Wimbledon. Simple as that. Located just off the middle of Wimbledon Broadway (near the theatre). This intimate restaurant simply buzzes with activity. The waitors are vibrant and friendly and will ensure whatever occasion you may be celebrating will be rewarded with good service (and often a shooter on the house if your in party mood!!).
The steak here is brilliant, the pizza’s are amazing (be warned - the medium size alone is enough to feed 2) and the food has been amazing every time I have eaten here.

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 18 December 2008

This is the friendlest restaurant in Wimbledon, the atmosphere is really warm, the staff seem to enjoy their job, the food is pretty good and not too dear. you can feel relaxed here but at the same time still feel that you are having a nice romantic dinner; what I mean by this is: I think you can make it what you want, posh or casual, there is no set rules, which is nice.

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 18 November 2008 (updated on 19 November 2008)

This is one of the best places in London for a pizza. The pizzas are huge, the staff are friendly and the place has a lovely buzz. We went in a big group and were seated upstairs, we received excellent service. Management of the place is great and you can see that their personal touch makes all the difference in the running of this top notch restaurant. It is a nice family environment as well. Will definitely go back and recomment to all that I can. There is parking in the roads alongside the restaurant but cannot be accessed from main road as the restaurant is on a one way street.

If your after a table in a quiet corner for a romantic meal then don’t go here. But if your after great Italian food, great atmosphere and service with a smile this is the place. The Italians running this place and loud and have a great sense of humour. The food is excellent with all Italian fares catered for. One word of warning is the size of the pizza’s, they are huge. The pizza’s are very tasty and have a great selection of toppings. The drinks menu is extensive and some good tasting wine on there.

I have been here with a big group for a birthday once and they really made the occasion special with waiters breaking into song. Its very reasonably priced as well.

Best restaurant in Wimbledon. Great staff, fantastic food and just generally a good all rounder place! Be warned, if it your birthday, the whole restaurant will know about it! Not for the faint hearted!

This is a fun restaurant with excellent home cooked real italian food. Staff are lively and friendly. The Pizza is stone oven baked, highly recommend the Calzone. Prices very reasonable. You need to book as this place is often busy, even in the week. Enjoy

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 31 March 2008

Good Italian Food and fantastic warm welcome from these Portuguese restaurateurs. The food here is good and the wood fired oven does help pizza taste that little bit better here. A warm welcome is customary here as they put on the ‘Italian’ charm but that said it is a nice, fun place to visit from time to time.

Besides in the chain shop hell that is Wimbledon, an independent like this have to be a bit special to survive. Prices are reasonable and if it is your birthday, shots always seem to turn up as these guys like to party.

Review of Al Forno Restaurant from 1 February 2008

From exterior to interior, this restaurant is traditionally decorated. The staff is completely Italian and full of lively and engaging attitudes of a company that enjoy their job and do it with great aplomb. Despite being a large group, everything came out without a large wait for any, which many could be forgiven for expecting from such a large order in a busy establishment.

Speaking of large orders, beware of food sizes. The “large” pizza option is for those who feel they can eat close to their own body weight. I just about did, but couldn’t squeeze in one of the lovely looking desserts. If you fancy somewhere un-chain-restaurant-like, go here. Affordable, different, and good house wines for only a tenner.
