3 reviews of on the rocks club in English
Let me be the first to tell anyone reading this that my judgement has been permanently coloured when it comes to this Kingsland Road venue.
Listen: the very first night that I walked through the door my attention was monopolised by a stunner adorned in nothing but cowboy boats, a bikini (that had seen better days, it must be said) and a big ol’ Stetson. My thoughts, I confess, verged on dirty. She wisely fended off my half-baked advances and I have never been the same since.
So maybe my deep fondness for the electro-pumping On The Rocks isn’t solely because I have always had a penchant for the more dank and grimy, dirty and seedy side of night clubbing, but because I am re-visiting lost moments, indulging in romantic what-ifs and trying to recapture life’s missed opportunities.
Or maybe I’m just a woman-botherer.
I queued for over an hour to get into ‘On the rocks’ last Friday night. The atmosphere in the queue was pretty friendly and we managed to pick up a beer from the local offy (otherwise I would have been outta there!). Once inside it was overcrowded, sweaty and then queueing for the toilet commenced! Next, queueing for the bar!! The drinks were pretty darn expensive but the dancing was fun if you don’t mind being bashed about…... oh yeah and it was gay night…. didn’t even know until I’d paid my 5 quid to get in.
very well know place in shoreditch, on the rocks count on a loyal crowd. however, i don;t know yet where the people find its allure.
it is overwhelmingly crowed with people that rather bump into you instead of dance. it is ridiculously decorated and distributed. the toilets are the filthiest thing i saw in my life and i have to say i am not very concerned about that. on the rocks have its very own people, who is disturbing at least. it isn't cheap, the music is crap, and it shuts very soon.
on the other hand, it is a place very loyal to its style and they have the atmosphere they sought to, so you may find it amazing, as many people do.
just don't go if you have a better option
