20 reviews of The Gaucho Grill in English
Came here in a work night out with some colleagues from offices in Germany and France and they were very impressed!
From the location half way up glamourous Regent Street to the way in, the swishy curtains, the attractive and friendly staff, the HUUGe board of raw meat presenting the choice of steaks as you order, the wine, the ambience and the actual taste of the food!
Very good, enjoyable and I hope I am lucky enough to come here again in the future!
a lot of fun, the dark and heavy interior is very entertaining. i did spot a mouse dart across the floor – but this is london and the restaurant is in a basement. these little darlings need to live somewhere. reasonable steak, a bit on the expensive side and the chairs are a classic case of style over substance. a great night out, all in all.

fresh beef, nice appetisers and wines. good explanation of meats with real one. reasonable price :)
Gauch is amazing!!! I've been there multiple time and still can't get enough of it. The interior is out of this world. It is modern yet, fits to the style of cuisine which Gaucho offers. I can only say meat lovers this is something you have got to try. I have been to many steak houses but this one is one that I will never forget. Of course the prices are very high and not many people would give that much money for a meal but I can only say that you are missing out if you haven't been here. It is the best streaks you will find anywhere in London. Every visit I make to London there is always room for Gaucho... and as we speak I am booking my next reservation with family and friends.
Just incredible!
Gaucho Grill, superb service, gave great explanation into each cut of meet that was available during dinner service!
Decor is modern, funky yet classy with quite a buzzy atmosphere, drinks are reasonable priced, only complaint was that the food could have been slightly on the warmer side.....
A steakhouse that looks like a strip club, what's not to like?
I suppose it's what they call first-class dining experience with a hostess downstairs, a reception desk, another hostess upstairs and the whole shiny décor.
No steakhouse in Buenos Aires would ever look like that, but the food is authentically amazing. The empanadas, the sweet potato chips with chorizo and of course the meat were undoubtedly five-stars worthy.
spaniardinberlin Then I'd rather go for Chew Street... well Swallow St goes to, I guess

I love love love steak and the steak here is as amazing as you would expect it to be for the price! The decor is a quite heavy and dark, making you feel a bit like you are in an underground gentlemen's club (add to this the fact that most of the diners are City Slickers with booming laughs and expensive suits!) but this didn't change the fact that I had an amazing time. I would definitely go there again.
In my quest to quickly unlock my richly deserved steak-fiend badge, I am wracking my brain to think of other places I've eaten this delicious stuff. Gaucho is a fine example of a restaurant where you should always get somebody to pay. Fortunately, my dear friend "chief_patto" (look him up on here) was at hand with the corporate card, and we ran up a bit more of that famous Japanese budget deficit.
I don't need to repeat anything that anyone has said about the food here, it's excellent. I did find the place a bit dark, since I wasn't on a date, but it's a fine experience non-the-less.
went here for a friends 30th birthday and was blown away by the food..im a steak lover, but never had it like this before. we were served 3 different types all cooked to perfection, nice and crispy on the outside and soft and very tasty on the inside. the wine was lovley and the whole experience was on the whole very enjoyable. definatly worth a visit.
Mmmm, Rib-Eye. (Insert patened Homer Simpson slobbering here.)
Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, it’s the darkest restaurant in London - with the exception of that pitch black one, obviously. But look at that wine list! Look at those rib eyes!
Enjoyed a long wine matching evening here recently, which meant a thorough run through all the various cuts of steak. That’s why I can now tell you that fillet is lovely and tender but packs no flavour, unlike rump, sirloin and, best of all, rib-eye. Wibble, drool, ad lib to fade… Decent chips too, and the humitas - mashed corn and spices - is pretty darn fine too. But let’s face it, this is where you go for a bloody protein fix and some big hitting Malbecs and on that basis it never disappoints.
I am still up walking slightly bow legged after being served up a carnivorous feast at Gaucho yesterday lunchtime. Probably best suited for a client lunch (hence my visit), highlights included being painstakingly shown each meat cut on a wooden board, that would more than make a vegetarian squirm.
I went for the fillet cut 'Bife de Lomo’ rare - £28 for a 300g slab or £36 for a 400g man-sized chunk. Served with a selection of sides from garlic asparagus to button mushrooms with bacon lardons, I was unable to communicate for 15 minutes whilst chomping away. Lovely service to boot, with a red-lipped waitress offering us an exquisite alternative of dulce de leche as the original cheesecake had been scoffed.
Been there several times latest one was today. Very good meat quality and if they do get it right in grilling the steak (I am asking for rare) its really nice.
Some bad points after all my visits to the place, is that waiters or anyone who’s serving has no idea about wines really and they do sell wines there!
Very keen to sell but in an obvious way. They are basically working on a “shop” with no real intention to inform you about their products.
Something really nasty is the fact that 3 times I have seen staff cleaning around you EVEN UNDER THE SEAT YOU SIT (!) with a VERY noisy broom… Unacceptable-unbelievable. Except the disturbance of the atmosphere its not really hygienic doing that while people dining!
Overall, Food: Very good, service: average-bad, wines: good selection though only Argentinean wines, Prices: High.
Very expensive, but worth it! If you want a treat then come here. There are a few of these in London, but the steaks are to die for. My husband isn’t a huge fan of steak, but he absolutely loved it here. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and the service is very good.
We would definitely come back here, but only for special occaisions!
You can’t fault the food, but you pay for it. I had the fillet and it was incredible - cooked just as I like it, and they don’t give you a steak knife because the steak’s meant to be so tender it doesn’t need one. I love the way they show you the board of meat before they cook it for you, too!!
I have to point out that Gaucho is a British, not Argentinian, steakhouse chain. It serves Argentinian steak and wine in ‘hip’ surroundings. And there’s no denying that it’s popular with a certain crowd. But for a truly authentic Argentinian restaurant in London, go to Buen Ayre on Broadway Market. Or better still, go to Argentina, which is what I plan to do very soon. Although the steak was up to scratch this time, I won’t be returning to Gaucho again.
Lunch for two without alcohol or service cost £40.00.
Vegetarians - you must not go to this place, or you will go to the dark side. This is my favourite of the Gaucho set of restaurants around London. The food, as at all of the Gauchos, is first class with a fabulous selection of Argentinian steaks with a variety of cuts and the opportunity to see the cuts and have them explained along with how they are best cooked before diving in to the eating.
Outside of the steaks are a great selection of sides with the mushrooms being my personal favourite though all of them are great and go very well alongside the main event of the meat.
There is a decent wine list as well along with a wide variety of other drinks to satisfy the majority of diners. The wine varies from reasonable to fairly mind crushingly expensive so something for everyone really.
The atmosphere is great - its all cow hide seats in a little darkened cellar style setting, and it really is the perfect place or a long lunch that just keeps on going…I seem to remember one time we were still there when the evening sitting was coming in…
Cheap it is not - but I’d say it’s good value as it’s not exorbitant.
Service is speedy, polite and knowledgeable. Get yourself a steak and enjoy.
If you’re looking for a good restaurant with amazing steak this chain of eateries should be on top of your list. I was blown away from the moment I walk in and so impressed with the decor that I was making plans to return before even trying the food! My wife booked a table for my Birthday here and it felt as if we were checking into a swanky hotel.
Once we were seated at our table by the floor manager she explained who would be serving us for the evening and discreetly wished me a Happy Birthday which was such a lovely touch as glasses of sparking wine was placed on our table.
The waiter arrived within a few seconds with our menu’s and once he found out it was our 1st visit arrived with a selection of the cuts of steak and explained the differences.
I would go back to this restaurant but would love to try the newly opened O2
This, along with the other, equally impressive, Gaucho restaurants, is one of my favourite London eateries.
Yes, it’s on the expensive side, but you really do get what you pay for here - melt-in-the-mouth steak; the best burger I have ever tasted; perfect, hand-cut chips; exquisite fish and decadent desserts. I have eaten at most Gauchos and whilst each is a slightly different experience, all have continually impressed me.
Dark, atmospheric and sexy, the interiors are opulent and luxurious…and subtly tongue-in-cheek. They have a very obvious passion for Argentina (all the wines on the extensive wine list are from there) and all the staff are very knowledgeable about the cultural aspects of the brand.
As previous reviewers have suggested, the presentation of the cuts of beef is impressive. The menus have a fantastic long, thin, concertina design and similar attention to detail has been used throughout the experience. If you get a chance to book one of the private dining rooms, then do so - you’ll be treated like a celebrity.
Gaucho is well suited to an excellent romantic dinner, an impressive business lunch or a dramatic and exciting party with friends or family.
Another decent London eatery. it’s a bit gimmicky but the steak is good and this is probably the only reason to go. I went at lunch and the service was very swish, slightly obsequious and probably slightly too frequent. I love the theatrical presentation of the various cuts of raw meat at the start of the meal and the beef itself was terrific. Slightly cliched trendy decor; trying slightly too hard. Justifies the higher prices. Anyway, go for the steak and you’ll be happy.
It was great food and great wine and a lovely little shop for the wine at a lower cost, but I found the staff in this branch to be quite arrogant and up themselves. They had an air of 'I'm better than you' about them and I didn't feel as though I was valued as a customer....won't be going back there in a hurry
