Marker works from Monday till Saturday. Its a great place, although it gets crowded in the weekends. I buy almost all of my vegetables here, because they are always fresh and the prices are more than good. Especially the £1 basket offer for fruits and vegetables in season and I can say that the best day to come shopping here is Saturday. If you are looking for fresh fruits and vegetables, this is the place for you!

Church street market is great place to buy quality stuff at bargain prices. There are quite few stalls selling quality cloths and tracksuits cheaper than high street discounted stores.

The market is open Monday to Saturday. I usually buy my fruit and veg from here. Most of the stalls do a bowl for £1 which is excellent value. On a Saturday you'll also find stalls selling clothes and linens and household essentials and tools.

And if you're hungry, there are plenty of cafes dotted around the area or you can buy fast food from catering vans. If you get to the market early on a weekday morning, you can buy organic cakes and coffee too.

Best day to come to Church Street Market is Saturday when it is in fullest swing (closed on Sunday, trading from Monday to Saturday day time but rather quiet between Monday and Friday).

Primarily serving the needs of ethnic minorities resident in the vicinity (Somali, Pakistani, Muslim countries), there is great variety to be had for all.

I love coming here to check out the £1 a basket offers for fruit and veg in season. There would be enough in a £1 basket of cherry tomatoes to make a fresh pasta sauce for 3 people (or 2 generous portions)!! This is credit crunch busting indeed!

On Saturdays there is one particular stall which sells fruit and veg in bulk i.e. whole boxes or trays for excellent prices. I once bought a whole tray of in season figs for £4 (normally 3 for £1) and there were no less than 15 figs in the lot.

Do shop around in this market, walk around it once first before committing to any purchase.

Also excellent for low cost household items like plastic buckets and colanders. Why pay more elsewhere?

This place is great for a bargain, is quite packed on the weekends but worth it in the end. The market stall holders are always willing to barter and have quite good quality merchandise.
