Review of Deen City Farm from 18 April 2013
Had you asked me about past experiences when viewing the animals for free, I would have said great. However, we have had a ridiculous fiasco when booking 4 girls in for the own a pony day as a birthday treat. There was a miscommunication on the phone resulting in them writing down the wrong date for the party. When that date arrived we got a phone call mentioning the girls hadn't arrive. Upon calling and saying it was because the party is to be next week... this is where the trouble arose. Apparently we should have received an email confirmation which we didn't. The farm says they sent one and that is fair enough... however, we did not receive it. Yet the farm is not willing to fix this situation to our satisfaction. They will neither refund the money or rebook on the right day at no additional cost. We are being held over a barrel here. We are faced with a birthday girl and 3 friends who had expectations, that is 4 8 year olds dreaming of a pony day. Our offer from the park is to rebook at half price... that is for an additional cost of £70 on top of the £140 we paid for a party we didn't get because it happened without any of us on the wrong day. Their customer service on this issue is terrible. They are happy to keep our money and blame us for this mistake. They should have been the one confirming that their confirmation email had been received if they were going to hold to that as their reason to not resolve this. Any other business would have done better. I would like to update my review. With no other options for a party... we ended up having to take their offer of re-booking at half price (that is £70 on top of the £140 paid already). And guess what? They didn't send a confirmation email for that either... we had to send them 2 emails telling them we had not received it before getting confirmation from the manager. I requested all the receipts for what we had paid and was told all of them would be waiting for us on the day... they weren't we received a receipt only for the £70 paid.

Good day out for children of all ages. It's also where they film Mr Blooms Nursery for Cbeebies which adds a bit of magic to the trip.

A small city farm which is great for small children. It’s free and a great resource. They have the usual sheep, pigs, cows, goats and fowl. Horse riding lessons are available. There are interesting sustainable gardens, vegetable and fruit plots. There’s also a cafe and small shop. I’ve enjoyed my visits here, but sometimes in good weather you can get LOTS of children running around like loons all through the gardens. Combine your visit with Morden Hall Park nearby.

This urban farm is great. It holds a dear place in my heart. I remember before it moved to Bunce’s Meadows, as part of Morden Hall Park. Morden Hall Park is separatly reviewed here and is a National Trust Parkland.

Back in the day….anyway fast forward to today and this is a quaint bit of the countryside in the city. Ideal for adults to take children of all ages to see ducks, horses, geese, pigs, sheep and more.

The location is a little bit hidden away next to the Phipps Bridge, but is walkable from Phipps Bridge or Morden Road tramstops. Colliers Wood tube is nearby and this is good for a family day out when combined with Merton Abbey Mills.

These guys also have a riding school and educational programs, but it is the look on very small children’s faces when they see and say ‘Ram’ or ‘orse’

Not the kind of place where you can spend a whole day (or even a whole morning) but a fun diversion for little ones and it's free. The usual animal supsects are here, pigs, sheep, cows, goats and horses as well a good collection of chickens and peacocks. There is also a petting area for rabbits, some ferrets and a lovely garden area. Pony rides are sometimes available and for older children they run workshops in the school holidays so kids can get hands-on with the animals. There is a fairly basic cafe and a small shop selling farm-related toys and eggs produced by the farm. There is a car park or you can combine a visit with a tram ride and walk to or from Morden Hall Park.
