This is easily the best Mexican place in London and one of my favourite fast food places too.

You can choose from burritos or tacos, but I recommend burritos. I’ve tried everything on the menu and it’s all great, but a large chicken burrito gets my vote. You have a choice of black beans and pinto beans, as well as peppers, salad, sauces and 3 different levels of spiciness. I usually go with the spiciest option and get my head blown right off. If you’re not in to spicy food and if you’re not up for the challenge I’d go for the mild or medium option. Otherwise, buy lots of drinks.

The staff are very friendly and very welcoming and they fill your burritos up so much they sometimes have difficulty wrapping them. Importantly, they do manage it though, and with it make the best burrito in London.

Mucho Mas has a lovely atmosphere and also has free wi-fi upstairs. The prices are pretty good for what it is, and if you go in at lunchtime there are deals available, although I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s incredibly busy and the staff are a little rushed. It’s much better in the evenings when it’s quieter and the staff have more time to get your burrito exactly right.

I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else for my Mexican food - for anyone who likes Mexican cuisine or wants to try something a bit different it’s definitely worth seeking out.

You get a chicken, beef, pork, or vegetarian burrito (or tacos). Choose from medium or large and then select your fillings. They’re all so good that sometimes the staff have trouble closing my burrito after I choose all the fillings. Bottomless fountain is a good deal. It’s a shame that they don’t have any dessert. Friendly staff, great people, great food.

Excellent burrito joint. I am a brit with not the most finely tuned palette for spicy food (actually I get the non-spicy options when I go here - which are still very good, although I do get some raised eyebrows when I ask them to hold the chili and corriander) ... but anyway the place is always jam packed full of people with Californian accents scoffing down burritos the size of their arm and raving about how they are as good as back home so it seems like this is a winning formula. Hopefully the first of many.

I should say straight away that I have absolutely no idea what ‘authentic’ Mexican is. Those who do will have to judge this place for themselves.

Basic set up here is you go up to the counter and move along it while your server piles the ingredients you choose into a burrito. Similar set up to Subway really. The range of ingredients to put in is impressive. You get rice, a choice of beans, a choice of meats, choice of sauce (according to heat), salsa, salad, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, in combination to suit of course. The nearly bursting result is wrapped in foil and has letters written on it so the person on the till knows what to charge.

I took advantage of their dinner time special, from 12-3pm, of medium burrito, chips, salsa and a can of drink, for £5. The cans were limited to Coke, Diet Coke or 7 Up (though I did neglect to ask if I could have had a bottled soft drink instead!). They have inside seating: benches and a couple of outside tables downstairs, and an upstairs room with wooden chairs, a fireplace and bright paint. More fast food joint than ethnic, but pleasant. It was a hot day so I choose to head out to a local park, but I’d have been happy to eat in on a cold day. Service was efficient.

The food… I’ve never had rice in a burrito before, but the lime flavoured rice was nice! The other highlight was the meat. I’m not actually sure if I got steak or beef. I’d call it stewing steak: strands rather than chunks. Very tender and packed with flavour. The only quibble for me was the cheese was mild and totally lost. Though the meal didn’t look huge, after my burrito I had a pleasant warm, full feeling and saved my chips and salsa for later! I also got messy hands (though I was amazed how well the stuff did stay in) and bits of meat stuck between my teeth!

Not a posh sit-down place. More upper-end quality fast food. And very good at that. I wouldn’t mind if this were the start of a chain…

An absolutely FANTASTIC place serving fresh (and freshly made!) burritos/tacos/salads in the style of many American chains. The meat is wonderful smokey and tendy. The rice is lovely and flavoured with lime and coriander for an herby, cool sensation. The salsas are all fresh and delicious. The burritos are HUGE and very filling - and for less than £7 each!! You can also order extra sides like homemade tortilla chips and guacamole (also fresh and wonderful). They service Mexican beers, which make a perfect accompaniment to the spicy burritos. The owners of this restaurant aren’t millionaire investors, but built the place from the ground up based on personal research and a love of fresh Mexican food - reward them for it!

Perfect for a quick bite to eat or for a more lingering meal with friends.

I stopped in at Mucho Mas for a quick dinner before heading to the cinema (it’s right around the corner). I was a bit surprised as I was expecting a sit down place but instead it was order-at-the-counter burritos which reminded me exactly of Chipotle (burrito chain from the states). We decided to give it a go and were pleasantly surprised.

It was a nice burrito and had the option of black or pinto beans which Chipotle is lacking. The meat was very nice and my friend said the pork was really tasty. They give you the option of a small or large burrito and a large should be labeled MASSIVE instead. I went for the small and it filled me up.

The hot salsa was REALLY spicy and that’s coming from someone who has lived in California and Texas and likes fairly spicy things. I was told the medium wasn’t spicy enough so it sounds like I made the right choice. They also had guacamole for 75p extra which I went ahead and did. It was good, not great but I’d order it again because I’m definitely a guacaholic.

They had corona and pacifico beer which I loved seeing. Pacifico is one of my favorite mexican beers and I happily ordered one of those.

All in all, this is a nice place for a quick eat and serves pretty good burritos for a reasonable price in my mind. A small was £3.50 + £.75 for the guac which filled my tummy.

Tried Mucho Mas when I happened to be in the area of Angel and was pleased with my tacos, nice and spicy, and well-seasoned chicken. I’d give it 4 stars if the tacos came with lime and if I’d been allowed to mix the various salsas (I like the very hot and the mild savory as well). Tacos are always better with lime! Perhaps the server just forgot to throw it in there though so worth asking for it if you’re also a fan.

That being said, it’s a good pit stop for cheap and different grub whether you decide to take away or grab a Modelo and eat in the brightly colored, fast-food setting that does not encourage loitering. There’s also free wifi for those that aren’t bothered by hard seats and communal tables.

Mucho Mas (across the street from Angel tube stop and about 300 feet to the right), is a good copy of two fresh ingredient TexMex restaurants well known to Americans - Chipotle and Baja Fresh. And why shouldn’t it be? The owner, who’s there all the time behind the counter is a transplanted American from Chicago who saw an opening for quick but quality Mexican. Every time I’ve been in Mucho Mas, I find the food tasty, hot (not the spice, unless you want it that way), the service fast and the place clean. Burritos, tacos (soft or hard), salads, etc. Mucho Mas is perfect for the Brit who doesn’t know much about Mexican (or Tex-Mex) and doesn’t want to spend a lot to experiment and try something different. It’s a great alternative to all the Indian and British pub fare that dots Upper street. In my opinion, Mucho Mas is a welcome addition for something different and good.
