1 review of Young Vic Theatre Company in English
The Young Vic - companion to the nearby Old Vic - is a small, modern, round theatre space. It only seats a couple of hundred people, but does so with padded benches that are much more comfortable than the narrow, cramped-knees seats you get in the older theatres.
Most of the seats are downstairs, with a ring of a couple of rows upstairs. I saw, of all things, an opera production of David Lynch's Lost Highway here, and it worked well: they facilitated the unusual setup of the production. The resulting claustrophobia made it better than it would have been in a larger place. Everyone in the house is going to be close to the performance.
There's a bar and restaurant - the Cut - in the front of the theatre, and it's a great place for pre- or post-show food and drink.
The Young Vic has been in operation since 1970, and focuses on showcasing work of young, emerging artists.
