We have just returned from this pub after a very disappointing lunch. My burger billed as 'home made from premium steak' emerged well done, rather than the requested medium rare.

When I quizzed the manager, she told me she'd look into it. And then walked back to chat with her friends. Nothing more was done. They also forgot to put peas on my daughter's dish. We were told that peas were 'unavailable'. This was after the meals had all been delivered to the table.

Oh, and we were given a bill before we asked for it. And we had to clear our own table.

If you're looking for good food and helpful management, do not visit the Honor Oak. I cannot stress enough how bad this place is.

My husband and I are very fond of this pub as it is incredibly welcoming to disabled people especially those who are wheelchair bound. As for the moans about children isn't time that we moved into the 21 st century.Nothing is too much trouble and I our opinion the food is always good.We have brought friends here from all over London, the UK and indeed Europe and everyone has enjoyed it.We find it hard to get to the West End and we like to entertain our friends within wheelchair driving distance fro our house.Certain other establishments locally with a good reputation e.g.the Babur we can no longer access as there is no toilet downstairs!!!!We used to spend a lot of money in the Babur but no longer.Kids and disabled people have a right to eat out too!!!! I’ve found service here a bit hit and miss, they are always nice but sometimes distracted. It has a modern interior and a nice beer garden with rabbits… The food is a cut above the average in quality but this comes with prices to match.

A lot nicer inside than the outside would have one believe.
Super friendly bar staff served me a mean bloody mary and brought a biowl of water out for our dog without any prompting - an easy way to win me round. A reasonably selection of ales as well as all the usual lager and wine, juice etc. It's on the pricey side, but this may reflect the infrequency with which I visit pubs these days...
I have not eaten here yet but I will do so soon. If they put as much care into their food as they do into the drinks, service and decor it will be delicious.

This place was a creche. There must have been some kind of special offer on or something. I have never seen so many children in a pub at once, which was immensely irritating. Drinking in a nice pub is about relaxing..an activity that rarely occurs amidst running, flailing and screaming (or while being continuously hit with a balloon for that matter).

They did serve me a tasty pint of Tribute though, which is why this modern pub doesn't score lower.

The Sunday roasts at The Honor Oak are not a let down. I went for the pork, which was exceedingly tasty, and along with the homemade, chunky apple sauce and immense array of vegetables, it set me up very nicely for a day of strolling.

Table service is a nice touch, and the staff are chirpy and helpful. I liked the fact that there was a mixed clientele in there - with students, young families and locals all enjoying the laid back atmosphere.

Our new local was a very welcome find. We’ve lived in Forest Hill for 5 years now and had never staggered this far but living just round the corner now, we are proud that it is our local! Great decor, good drinks selection and Ok food offering. Really nice outdoor area and very friendly staff.

I no longer go out to pubs very much (having a very young family) so it takes something special to drag me out, and this is just such a place. It balances its traditional building and modern decor very well, but what sets it apart is the friendly attitude of the staff (and they have a decent wine list for a change too).

The Honor Oak manages to be welcoming to families as well as retaining a relaxed atmosphere for evenings.

I highly recommend this place to locals or those visiting our little corner of London
