The best thing about the COOP is their wide range of faritrade goods. As this is one of the larger outlets there is a good selection, especially the alcohol.
Don’t forget they also have a loyality card scheme.
A useful supermarket whose main attraction for me is the range of fairtrade goods available, plus the selling of local foods, plus the commitment to buy their chickens from slightly more chicken friendly farms and the fact that I’m a shareholder in the business. Before you report me to Qype for hyping up my own business I should point out that lots of other people own the business. The Co-op is that very rare thing – a business that you can have a say in how it is run and what it does merely by paying a pound to become a member. You also get the chance to collect points, much as you do in other supermarkets’ loyalty card schemes but with the Co-op you can also earn the points by turning up to meetings and getting involved.
They also do home deliveries. This can be useful when you want to do a big shop but don’t have a car. You go in and chose what you want, pay for it and then arrange for it to be delivered. My friend who uses this service says it is great and they never complain about her living on the third floor with no lift
