6 reviews of Golders Hill Park in English
I have been visiting Golders Hill Park for the last 30 years having heard about it by word of mouth when my children were toddlers. My children used to enjoy the space in the park and loved visiting the animals and birds. Now as adults they still visit the park. The water gardens and the flower gardens are just lovely and well kept. There's a nice restaurant with seating outside that looks over the park and very family oriented. A good park to meet up with friends and family for a sociable day and maybe a picnic as well. A great place for the elderly to sit, relax and enjoy. The small zoo of animals and birds look well looked after and adds to the difference of this park from other local parks and there's a children's play area as well. There's lots more to see in this park and I highly recommend it for a nice day out.
If possible its better to travel by london transport as parking could be difficult with pay and display areas which is not cheap if your planning on spending several hours at the park. Hope you enjoy it as much as a regular user like myself does.
One of London's top notch parks. It has a great cafe serving delicious cakes and lunches as well as fabulous ice creams (in summer). The park also has a mini-zoo containing all sorts of cute, furry and outlandish creatures. There is plenty of open ground, a tree nursery, a formal landcsaped garden and a water garden - it has a lot! Well worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood. There is good disabled acess with many level walks and level access to the cafe too. The walks are all hard surfaced too, so very accomodating for the elderly or disabled.
One of my very favourite parks - it is all that an urban park should be. With lots of space for running round and ball games, exceptionally well planted formal gardens, ponds, a good playground and a great Italian cafe serving home-made ice-cream.
There’s even a mini-zoo, which provokes mixed feelings - lots of interest for visiting children but horrible to see caged birds and animals.
The top of the park adjoins Hampstead Heath so you can walk for miles from here.
It’s easily reached by tube or bus, but parking is difficult - be prepared to park some distance away. In the summer there are activities and performances for children.
This park is an amazing space. A lot of it is open stretches of grassland, with specimen trees dotted here and there. There are tennis courts right by the entrance thats nearest to Golders Green tube station, which is also great. There are at least two ponds, which are beautifully stocked with marsh and water plants. The less wild pond, in the more populated area, has lots and lots (and lots!) of birds, many of them wild. There’s a proper English flower garden, a formal one, a cafe and toilets. There’s a field of deer! Amazing, outside of Richmond Park.
The bit that really astonishes is that if you keep walking uphill, you get to a really wild bit, beyond the park - is it Hampstead Heath? I’m really not sure. But its not parkland, thats definite.
The one bit that makes me sad is the caged animals and birds, not good - I’ve noticed conditions improving slightly in the last few years, but its not nearly good enough.
In total, its a fantastic place, with many entrances and exits, and a wonderful variety of environments.
OMG Golders Hill park is ace. Parking round these parts gets harder by the day - if you’re lucky you’ll be able to find a metered space but otherwise it’s just up the hill from Golders Green (on the road up to Hampstead). Lovely biggish and very well-kept park. Little flower gardens and a really nice cafe. Best thing? The animals! Lovely bambis and birdies and other creatures to look at and stroke. Good hill in the middle for kite flying as well. A must, especially in spring/summer.
Golders Hill Park is right next to Golders Green Tube station, so is very accessible. Once you arrive you'll see a lovely cafe to your right, which has the best ice cream I have tasted in London from coconut to honey comb. The most delightful part of the park is the nature reserve, which houses lots of different animals including birds and deers. There is a dense wooded area, but I wouldn't venture there at night, you may get lost or stumble upon something you shouldn't. All in all it's a lovely day out.
