Yes, its probably one of the most expensive bakeries in the world but this place has got some great things going for it which makes it worth it:
-almost all of the ingredients come from the region and all are either certified organic or bio-dynamic.
-they use green energy for all of their locations including where they bake the bread and have a very green policy when it comes to energy consumption (and trying to reduce it as much as possible).
-finally, and most important, besides the fact that you feel good about getting your bread here is that unlike the reputation that some organic bakeries have for only baking things that resemble cardboard, its also all around the best tasting bread in Hamburg. My picks are the Kernbeißer Brötchen, Holsteiner Vollkornbrot, Laugenbrötchen, Ciabatta and of course the Franzbrötchen ;).
