Cafe Rouge

The food was second to none, delicious French cuisine as I know it. The service was marred by the fact it took so long for them to take our order but once they did, they couldn’t do enough for us. I also think that they didn’t have enough staff on site to wait the tables. Shame, a little investment in another table waiter would make this a top notch restaurant.

Positively the worst restaurant I have ever been in. The waitress brought my hot food from the kitchen and left it on the side to go cold while she produced a bill for and took payment from another table. When I complained to the so called manager he proceeded to argue with both me and the waitress. I would never step foot in another Cafe Rouge again.

I’ve been here far too many times to remember. Why? Well, it’s definitely not for the service (unbelievably unattentive on every visit), nor the view (in a carpark in the Finchley Lido complex). But one of the places in Finchley you can park so perfect for meeting up for coffee with friends who live in different areas (and have cars!) Always a free table but really nothing special.

Recently had dinner here and it suffers in terms of atmosphere in comparison to other Cafe Rouges in Highgate and Hampstead as you might have expected given that it’s situated in a modern leisure complex. The food is the usual high standard but the service left a little to be desired. It is lacking the finesse that the aforementioned other Cafe Rouges have.

If you want to go out for breakfast in Finchley there aren't many places to choose from, so that is what Cafe Rouge has in its favour. The hot chocolates are good and all the breakfast dishes on offer are, as far as I know, good as well, but the place is always dead in the mornings so it doesn't make for much atmosphere, and it's not cheap either. But when it's the only thing on offer...
