Magnifique, marvellous, beautiful !
You’re walking in history !
Breathtaking. Entrance to the Pantheon is free which is amazing given that most attractions in the city are expensive. Sort of hidden a few blocks off of the Via del Corso, but it is no trouble to find. The inside is spectaclar of course, and Renaissance painter Raphael is buried in the Pantheon. As with many other structures in Rome, please be respectful while inside. Don’t forget to sign the guestbook while you’re there!

Amazingly inspiring. The domed roof is amazing piece of architecture considering the age. it s the best kept roman building. Definitely worth the visit. The best thing is that it s free, despite it being part of the church.

Worth seeing as the oldest complete structure still standing complete from almost 2,000 years ago. Very impressive to stand in the middle and just contemplate the craftsmanship and skill that went into building the dome without anything but the outer walls holding it up.

Stunning building. Go see! Only downside was the scaffolding covering half of the front of the building as in the photo I uploaded. The inside is stunning!

There is little to say, much to see. That a Roman building is still this intact is amazing. What is more amazing still is the construction of the Dome and the use of perspective to trick the eye into increasing the height of it . . . . . a trick we had to wait till the Renaissance to repeat!
Commissioned by Marcus Agrippa as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome, the Pantheon was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in about 126 AD.
Two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome.
The building is circular with an entrance portico of three ranks of huge granite Corinthian columns with an extravagaantly coffered ceiling above - look up. Inside you are immediately under a coffered concrete dome with a central opening (oculus) to the sky. The height and diameter of the interior circle are identical at 43.3 metres (142 ft).
The Pantheon opens at 9am and closes at around 6pm. It does get very crowded so get there closer to the opening and closing times and you'll get the best atmosphere.
It is truly a wonder.

Really like this place, very interesting & in the shade. Particularly intrigued by the whole in the roof & the way the sound traveled. Just outside the front entrance is a lovely fountain to cool off in, just dip the arms in freezing water even in August. Don't drink it though!

To find the Pantheon was a bit tricky for us. The staff in the hotel was able to help us. From Termini the bus No.64 drives there. The square with a fountain in front of the Pantheon, also in the cooler winter's very friendly and welcoming. We missed something and that was that there are messes in the Pantheon, which is a church as well...Jaja laugh When we finally entered the church, we were stocked. An absolute must see in Rome.

Le panthéon, the pride of Rome, is the only architectural Romanian monument that remained intact, it is almost 50 metres high. Several kings and Italian artists have been buried there. Impressive and unmissable when you go to Rome.

A must-see. The kind of place where history gives you a real slap in the face.

I only got to see it at night, but it's a magnificent monument. The lighting really does it justice! And there's always a fountain just next to it! It's Rome!!

An amazing, magical, imposing landmark right slap bang in the centre of Rome. This is one of my favourite places ever and I would recommend that everyone visit it at least once. I lived around the corner from this historical masterpiece and never tired of seeing it. I’ve sat in the piazza della rotunda at 5am (on the way home from a club) when noone else was around just looking at it.
They still have Catholic services in latin on a Sunday and no matter what religion you are it is a wonderful experience. Has to be seen to be truly appreciated and no visitor to Rome should miss this out.

The Pantheon is a real marvel, a building truly on a magnificent scale, quite mind boggling to think how they built it so many year’s ago.
TIP: Avoid the Roman’s in Costume outside the entrance way. They play all friendly for a photo opportunity then pounce on you for cash, not a pleasant experience!

This is another place you should definitely visit if you are in Rome. The Pantheon was originally built as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome by Agrippa after the battle of Actium (31BC), but this was destroyed by fire in the first century AD. The Pantheon as it stands today dates back to the 2nd century AD during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. In the 7th century the Pantheon was converted to a Catholic church (consecrated as Santa Maria ad Martyres). The Pantheon has also been used as a tomb; the painters Raphael and Carracci and the kings Vittorio Emanuele II and Unberto I are buried there amongst others.
The Pantheon is located in a square lined with cafes and restaurants (some are overpriced but others are ok). Having a drink in one of the cafes is lovely, especially at night when the Pantheon is lit up.
