This tiny little shop on Broadway Market specializes in Jamaican food, including fresh fish, vegetables, tinned goods and spices. If you want Jamaican speciality, you’ll probably find it here. One thing that caught my eye was the whole tamarind fruit. I’ve seen them growing in the Mediterranean, but they weren’t as big and plump as the ones in this shop!

The real selling point of this shop is the proprietor. He’s a big character and totally passionate about his food. You should have heard him on tamarind! It’s the sort of place you are going to find plenty of people popping in for a chat as well as food, and you feel yourself part of the gang as soon as you walk through the door.

He’s open during the week, and also does a hot food stand outside on market days. I haven’t tried it yet but I think I will have to!
