Nice enough venue…
The decor is stunning, the staff are professional and the cocktails are well made and tasty.
It is just a shame that they play terrible music so loud you have to shout to be heard.
I was reasonable surprised by the cost of drinks, I had assumed that I’d need a second mortgage being so close to Covent garden but at less than 9 pound a cocktail it meant I didn’t break the bank.

The reviews of this place make me sad as i love this place!
Yes it can be seen as a bit over the top and soulless, but I just love the plush furnishing and dark lighting. Great place to go on a date!
The cocktails are yummy, i particularly like the Blue Lagoon which is bright blue and tastes like sugar!
If you get waiting service, they whack on a service charge, so four cocktails came to over £50!

Good for happy hour, if you want cheap cocktails that are pretty decent. From 5 to 8pm the whole cocktail list is only 3.95. I had a lovely vodka and pear puree martini (Vodka Au Pear) and my friend had a mai tai that went down quite easily. Don't think I'd stay past happy hour though, as it's quite loud and I usually just pop into this place for a drink before heading on to other more pleasant locales.

Meh.
Jewel isn't exactly going to blow you away. In fact, if I never went in again i doubt I'd miss it. It's not that the staff are nice and the venue isn't pretty, it's just got no atmosphere in the slightest. And considering how pretty it is, that's an impressive feat.
I was at an event last night so wasn't paying and only drinking bottles of beer. My hands still smell of lime juice this morning after they cut every piece of lime to bit to fit into the bottle. people everywhere were squishing limes into bottles, which was just bizarre. But really, that shouldn't be the only thing I remember about a bar. They also saw fit to turn the air con on halfway through the night so everyone was sat there shivering.
It's in Covent Garden which has always been a little hit and miss bar-wise. Far too touristy, but sometimes you'll stumble across a little gem of a place. Despite its name, Jewel isn't really one of them.

An alright cocktail bar which is always suitably busy, so it has a reasonably good atmosphere. Cocktails are well made but it isn’t as cheap as perhaps it should be, and some clientele can be a bit pleased with themselves. The £5 entrance fee is a complete waste of time too. Worth looking at other venues in the area, some are better.

I know that in London there are two Jewel’s, one in Leicester Square and the one in Covent Garden. The Covent Garden one is my favourite and I’ve been going there since I was eighteen when it was called ‘The Spot.’ I don’t frequent the place as much anymore, but I have attended a few birthday celebrations there and recently had a reunion there with a few old friends. This place makes some amazing cocktails, it would be a waist to go there and drink a glass of wine as there is such an extensive selection of cocktails to choose from.
Jewel is a small bar and over the weekends it gets particularly busy. The bar has a strange set up, with stairs leading up and down yet not necessarily taking you to anywhere where you can find a decent sized area to chill. It does involve dodging peoples drinks and if your seated, having people stood right over you, so I would advise arriving early to get a good seat. I think there is a small entry charge of five pounds and I’m guessing on the weekends this starts at nine o clock and the bar closes at 2. Music is not a main feature of this place and it’s just as well as there is literally no room to dance.
Jewel is a good place to go if you just want a few drinks in the evening or are just passing by and fancy a cocktail. I would not advise this place for a night out; it closes way too early, gets way too packed and is way too expensive for what it is.
