A cafe found on essex road serving traditiional british food in large portions at low prices. A real gem, with tasty creamy mash and succulent bangers, but what realy sets this place apart is the gravey which is fantastic. Breakfasts here are just as you’d expect full and hearty, yet at £5.95 for a meal very reasonably priced.

I have been consistently disappointed by the S&M cafe. Wandering in there at around 11 on a Sunday morning with an urge for sausage and mash i was informed they were still serving breakfast and mash wasn't available.
When i eventually did visit for an evening meal the suasages had the unmistakeable radiant heat of having been re-heated in the microwave. I ordered rice pudding for dessert and was charged restaurant price for re-heated tinned creamed rice.
A disappointment and a rip off, the only good thing about the place is the decor which they inherited from Alfredos.

Now there have been reviews on the other S&M cafés dotted around London, but speaking as one who has tried most of them, this is my favourite. Friendly, laid-back staff and the typical menu of sausages and mash you can pick and choose from their selection makes a perfect combo. Stay dry and have a nice cuppa with your meal – the old-fashioned café mood is perfect for it. A pity about the smoking ban, but take your paper along and you can spend a whole morning couched up in here!
