Compliment

Tucked away in the Broadway Shopping Centre in Hammersmith is a little place called Crepeaffaire. They sell crepes, as you can imagine. I do not know whether the staff have affairs. I don’t think it’s pertinent anyway – I trust the people at Crepe Affair to not let their personal lives affect their work.
I ordered a ‘supreme’, a savoury pancake named after a name you always get for a pizza in every takeaway establishment, but which always has different fillings. This Supreme Crepe contained ham and cheese (staples of the gallette and savoury crepe world) and tomato and spinach. It all tasted nice and fresh and that especially the tomatoes, which could have just leapt off the plant right into their pancakey death).
It was pretty expensive though – nearly four pounds for a crepe. And - intriguingly given the tiny size of the shop, and it only having perhaps two seats - I was given the option to eat it in. I declined and ate in on the tube, feeling the vague dissatisfaction a crepe always supplies regardless of quality.
