This China China restaurant is cheap has a range of good food available, with both Chinese and English items available, such as noodles, spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice, as well as chicken nuggets and chips available. It is an all you can eat buffet, and deserts are also provided. Drinks are pricey, but water is provided free of charge. All in all, a good place to go to eat if you fancy Chinese food and don’t have much money. (like me) :)
great for takeaways too you pay about £4 and you can fill up a tray with loads of food anything you want!
worst cardiff restuarant.
China waiter threw the steam boat base on the table
infront of 10 of us.
ridiculous steamboat without pork and chicken which is on the list. lousiest service seen.
This is one of those restaurants where quantity and fast service is way more important than quality. I first visited this restaurant 2 years ago at Christmas eve, it was the only restaurant that was open for lunch in St. Mary’s street! I went there with my parents and we were quite expecting what it was like as soon as we stepped in through the door, it is one of those restaurants buffet that you may find all over the place. The only difference is that this one as soon as you look at it it seems to have a bit more taste in decoration, almost a modern feel of a Chinese restaurant. And I quite liked that.
Other thing I liked and people may not enjoy is that it has a different table layout, it does look like a buffet, like if it is a cantine. All is lined up in order to look at the food in display, you just go there and take whatever you want by only paying an amount (which isn’t bad, you get a lot more for your money), but the quality of food isn’t the best…
With this I don’t mean it is bad and it is a very valid choice to go and eat, but as I said you don’t have quality but you do get a lot for what you pay!
Look - people say it’s awful but they don’t put that in context. My Dad and husband called there before the South Africa match and Dad ate like a piggy for £3.99 because he’s 65! See what I mean? – as an alternative to fast food, it’s roughly the same cost but you get something different and you get to sit down and eat it. Unlike many places tap water is freely available so if you really want half-decent food on a budget this is your place. Compare it with a ‘proper’ Chinese restaurant – not much change out of £50 for a meal for two and they’re not always open in the lunch time. To summarise, it reminds me of a Chinese staff canteen and it’s comparable with your Saturday night takeaway at half the price!
China China is the slightly cheaper of the various “All you can eat’ Chinese restaurants in Cardiff (compared with oriental Garden). It offers a full Chinese buffet along with a small selection of British/America side order foods (fries, chicken wings, chicken nuggets…), which is great to try all of the different dishes without having to order them separately. Taste wise the food is ok. The sweet and sour dishes are good alongside others, but the food sometimes loses heat from being in the hot buffet. A good place for large groups to visit when there may be people who are fussy eaters. There is lots of choice here (as long as people like Chinese!)
the food is nice, although quite rich, and it’s very good value but the lighting is very bright and you’re all shunted into rows of basic rectangular tables and it feels like you’re eating in a school canteen.
The staff are very friendly and the takeaway is very cheap for the amount of food you get.
For great price buffet Chinese food in a central location, you can’t go too wrong with China China.
With a wide selection of meat, vegetable dishes and dessert dishes to chose from, there really is something for everyone.
There are some negatives in that the food can be quite bland and quickly thrown together and as it’s a buffet it isn’t particularly authentic. But as a buffet and cheap and fast eat it isn’t too bad overall.
Bloody awful, I used to love this place when it first opened, but it has gone down hill big time, went there Friday 15th August with my son who only goes for the mini doughnuts and other deserts (he is only seven). He had a plate of food chips and nuggets really not vetry chinese I know and then went to make a start on the desserts, first he choose doughnuts then a swiss roll, after one bite he asked me to taste it because it tasted funny, I did and it was stale, he pushed this aside and went to get another deesert, in the meantime I had eaten a small plate of starter type bits and now had mains, special fried rice, noodles and sweet and sour pork, the pork was over done, chewy and dry, but you usually get at least one dish like this so i wasn’t too bothered, but then as I went to eat some rice I noticed what appeared to be an uncooked (grey) rock hard prawn, how the bloody hell did that get on my plate, I was disgusted. I left my full plate on the table and went to find my little un to tel him not to get anything else as we were leaving, when I turned round our table had been cleared, they dont usually remove full plates, I think the surly waitress had noticed my expression and removed the evidence, not being one to make a fuss I paid and left immediatley, thank god I did when I walked outside one of the chefs was sat there smoking in the most discusting filthy uniform I had ever seen, I felt physically sick at the thought for the rest of the day and phoned the enviromental health office as soon as I got home. Just wish I had had the guts to refuse to pay, I’ve worked in catering in one form or another for over ten years so I know what goes on behind the scenes but this place takes the biscuit.
I love chinese food, and this place serves one of the best chinese foods in Cardiff. Atmosphere is fab, all you can eat, you will leave here very full. The desserts are yummy as well!
This is the best Chinese Buffet Restaurant in Cardiff. The quality and range of food has improved leaps and bounds over the past year, and now they don’t shout at you for ordering a jug of tap water and they now understand it’s illegal not to offer tap water for free!
You can tell the food is good because a lot of Chinese people eat their.
Student’s heaven! Everyone loves an all-you-can-eat buffet for great value, delicious range of Chinese food and the ideal place to come if you want to fill yourself up for days on only £7.95! You will be dreaming of noodles by the time you leave China China, and you will find yourself returning to this venue time after time to satisfy your need for the comforts of Chinese cuisine. I would try and leave some room for their delicious deserts of fresh fruit or a selection of cakes which go down nicely with a cup of coffee to refresh you before returning to your busy day. Drinks can get quite expensive and take up most of the bill, but that’s a small price to pay for the eating experience in China China.
