The Royal Museum is one of Edinburgh's most popular visitor attractions. Its free entry - donations, of course, are very welcome - makes it accessible to all and allows those who wish to visit regularly the freedom to do so without the concern of cost.

Covered by a huge glass roof, the building is large and spacious. On the ground floor, a fountain attracts numerous wish-makers and a grand-sized clock ensures that no one will lose track of the time. There is also a dining area, which offers a variety of teas, coffees and snacks.

Animal-lovers will enjoy the many displays of animals - both large and small, extinct and those still in existence today. Indeed, the Royal Museum is quite a historical place. Its sections on Scottish and Egyptian history are particularly impressive.

The Royal Museum is a special place, with lots to see and do. There are many weird and wonderful artifacts to be seen - and look out for the formula one car! A great place for kids and adults alike, it has a little bit of something for everyone.
