I’m not usually a huge fan of chain restaurants. There really isn’t a huge need to go the them in London. Especially not when they look like fake Paris. But the Cafe Rouge in Greenwich is actually pretty great.

It’s not like a Cafe Rouge at all. Seriously. There is another branch in Blackheath, and one over the river in Canary Wharf, and they feel plasticy. This branch doesn’t.

They also serve really great food. I had a very yummy dinner there on Easter Bank Holiday - great sausage sandwiches. They do really excellent french fries too. And I haven’t managed to find a better hot chocolate depsite my very extensive search.

The staff are fun and friendly and they have comfy sofas. As it’s on the corner of Greenwich High Street and the outdoor market, it’s also great for doing a bit of people watching outside.

So yes, thumbs up to Cafe Rouge. But only this branch.
