Is this place called Kornhauskeller or Palmyra? It certainly used to be the former, but maybe it’s now the latter? It has both signs, the older German-language reviews say that this place is German, but half of the current (new) signage says it’s Syrian.

Anyway, whatever, this place is great. The lunch menu is quite narrow - a choice between meat and fish dishes, but the cooking is absolutely top-notch.

When you enter, immediately you’ll notice the rather well thought out decor. Nice little square tables, lots of photos, nicely framed, warm colours. Then you’ll notice that everyone’s food looks great. If you have a party just over 4 in size (we had 5) then you’ll probably get to see one of these little tables get expanded into a table for 6. Maybe they even expand up to 8? Either way it’s a fun little feature and shows the quality of the furniture.

The food itself is really good. I had steak, mixed veg, cous cous and a spicy tomato sauce - all perfectly cooked and presented, and the total cost was €7.20.

I’ll definitely be back.
