On my way to find another restaurant for dinner, I stopped into La Perla and I’m so glad I did. With a bar downstairs and a seemingly smaller restaurant area upstairs, La Perla had the look of a good Mexican restaurant. The food didn’t disappoint this assumption as bothy my appetizer (Guacamole) and my entree (Steak Fajitas) were absolutely amazing. The meal came with a small serving of nachos and salsa, something that I haven’t seen since I left Mexican restaurants in the US. The entire meal was 20 pounds with drink (I had two Diet Cokes at 2.50 a piece) and I felt that overall it was a good value for the money.

The only downsides to La Perla were negligible, but present. First, the serving size for the nachos, both complementary and with the Guacamole were a little small and weren’t refilled. Secondly, the size of the Diet Cokes and other soft drinks sold was seemingly smaller than average, something that really drives up the amount you get with spicy food (ingenious, but annoying). Finally, the only Tacos offered on the menu were street tacos, an option that definitely deviated from the normal taco formula. While these sounded interesting, I would love a classic beef taco offering.

Overall, I’m definitely going back to La Perla soon and would recommend the place as one of London’s best Mexican options.
