I always associated the name Pringle with rather ordinary men’s golfing sweaters, so it was quite a shock to find myself walking past the liveried security guard in this huge Bond Street boutique.
Someone has obviously given Pringle a major new design direction as here were some of the most delectable, gorgeous and highly expensive(!) pieces of knitwear on which I had ever clapped eyes.
The women’s knitwear is very sophisticated -a lot of it oversized cashmere numbers-and is cut and hangs beautifully.Classic yet very stylish and very now-there is not even a whiff of golfing frumpishness. In fact,most of the pieces look as if they had come straight from the Paris or Milan collections, rather than Scotland.
A more clean- cut , but equally chic men’s capsule collection, predominantly in shades of black and grey, is also well worth a peek.
Expensive, but utterly luxurious and looks like a million dollars.
