A friendly and down-to-earth venue, popular with the Civil Servants who work in the area and tourists from nearby Buckingham Palace (but don’t let that put you off). It’s right opposite Wellington Barracks, but the soldiers seem not to drink here. (Maybe they are not allowed to?)

It does the usual range of Young’s and Well’s beers, including Wells Bombardier, Young’s Bitter & Special, and seasonal brews. They also do traditional pub grub, which is especially popular at lunchtimes.

Dating from 1840, the interior features a large comfy lounge, and a rare surviving ‘drinking corridor’ used by the working classes in the 19th century. It’s a Grade II listed building.
