Comment: Yesterday I was literally initiated into the Theatron experience, but it was still a great evening all the same :-).
Theatron is situated alongside the Olympic swimming pool, an amphitheatre made of stone with a view of Olympiasee, the lake. In summer the “Theatron-Musiksommer” or Theatron musical summer and various concerts take place there, while films are also screened. Everything is outdoors and at no cost!
From the extensive and varied programme I chose a concert called “No Snakes in Heaven”, a great band combining tranquil and sentimental folk with a strong Australian influence in its renditions of songwriter Micha Vogt’s music.
The amphitheatre is made up of wide stone steps. A cushion or camping mat is therefore recommended for longer stays. Having said that, it’s possible to make yourself at home in any seated position. If you happen to be caught in a sudden downpour, it’s still bearable with an umbrella, and you won’t feel compelled to escape right away.
The sound quality is very good, the atmosphere with the view of the lake stunning. Unfortunately St Peter didn’t only have a quick shower in mind when I went, but made sure he’d grace us with a proper storm, which left my friends and I no choice but to seek shelter in the Schwabinger Wassermann restaurant (see article)as it got worse. Even so I’ll make sure I take advantage of this excellent offer a few more times. I really enjoyed it.
