The Quality Hotel Grand Kongsberg is part of the Choice Hotels group. A modern building near the middle of town, a few hundred yards from the station and walking distance from the river and the mining museum.

Reception is quite smart, with a modern look and feel and a couple of different restaurants on site. There are also a couple of other restaurants (a pizzeria and a steak house) available that belong to the same group on the other side of the river. There is a nice cafe area at the side of the hotel where you can watch the world go by, but unfortunately this was (as is often the case) full of smokers which didn’t make it the nicest place to be for a non-smoker. There are a couple of bars to choose from inside too.

Rooms are a reasonable size, with a nice large flat screen TV in my room and a good shower and bathroom. There is a Health Club & Spa available for guests.
