Maybe it’s because I’m now a hardened Londonder, but the very idea of Oxford Street on a Saturday gives me panic attacks.

Yes, it is excellent for shopping if the kind of shopping you enjoy is to be bombarded by choice. The only occasions which call for me to go to Oxford Street are when I need something very specific. For example I needed yellow accessories for a wedding I was going to (this was about 2 years ago when bright coloured accessories were scarce) and I went to the massive Topshop where I found some things to fit the bill.

Additionally I would come here if I needed some new make-up. I very rarely buy make-up so I’d go to Selfrigdes and/or John Lewis and get a pile of information from the experts at their stands. Ususally there is very little hard-sell, which makes it much more pleasant.

I hiked up and down Oxford Street last week trying to find a copy of Wii Fit, and the experience was exhausting, and a failure.
