Compliment Paulo Costaferrata (27-05-2008) 1

Looks good on the front cover but once you start reading, your body starts asking a few questions.
“Where have you just been?” it asks.
“Erm…just, you know a sandwich shop on the high street which sells ‘fresh’ food”.
“Fresh?”
“Yup…that’s what it says on the advertising schpiel”.
“Listen buddy: Those ingredients probably died fresh, but by the time some have been skinny dipping in saturated fat, certain items on the menu power washed in sodium, frozen in the same contraption used on Walt Disney’s head then you might choose not to believe the tag lines of these huge multi national brands.”

I chowed down on one thinking that we had finally found a decent chain selling healthy (ish), tasting food. But it wasn’t long before we all felt differently. It seems so prefabricated and synthetic…seriously, you’re best off making your own sandwiches then chancing one of these joints.
Processed cheese is good for comedy coffee mats but little else.
I’ve lost count of how many are now open in Central Manchester, we’ve a few down here in South Manchester (Withington and Didsbury alone).
Simply McBaguettes.
If you’re in town and fancy a sandwich there are far better places to go for your snack…and if you’re close to a Philpotts then do not hesitate to try them.

Have you got any links to information on what preservatives they use if any? I didn’t think they used any. Thanks. I don’t mind frozen: it’s actually very good for preserving vitamins!
