Compliment shinygemma (03-07-2008) •••••
I was lucky enough to be taken here for a corporate event, which meant a private room, someone else picking up the tab and the chance to try a bit of everything. All I can say is ‘wow’. This is one place that lives up to the hype and (if it’s possible) tops it. I’m not even a big fan of Japanese food, but you’d have to be mad not to love Nobu.
I don’t think you can go wrong no matter what you pick from the menu, but the famous black cod with miso lives up to its reputation, the yellowfin sashimi was absolutely outstanding, and the seared beef with spring onion and garlic chips left me speechless. I’ve never eaten so much raw or seared food in my life, but I am now completely converted.
The staff were friendly, incredibly efficient and looked after us brilliantly, and I really can’t fault the place for food and service.
The main restaurant looked bustling and atmospheric from what I saw, with plenty of movers and shakers and an appearance from Kylie (or so the tramp outside told one of my fellow diners!)
If you want a memorable dinner, this is definitely the place to go. Just bear in mind that everything you eat afterward will be a disappointment!
