QYPE*

Akcent is a modern three star hotel situated in the Smichov district of Prague, within a 1930's-built functionalist building. The hotel is adjacent to the Stroupežnického metro exit for Andel station and the Na Knizeci tram stops. The Lower Town is 5 minutes away by tram, and Old town about 10 minutes.

We found this to be a decent, budget hotel, and paid just under €50 a night (ie €25 each) for a twin room with breakfast, booked through Easyjet/Hotelopia.

The modern rooms are rather like an Ibis, only larger and better equipped. All the bedrooms have balconies too (although the view is not that exciting). There is no room service though, nor are there tea/coffee-making facilities in the room. But our room and shower room were both spotlessly clean.

Reception were efficient and the staff were very pleasant and all spoke good English. The breakfast was the standard continental buffet; adequate, but not particularly exciting. For evening meals, I'd recommend Andel itself, where there is greater choice.

The only downside is the area immediately in front of the hotel: the Na Knizeci bus station isn't the most attractive outlook, although beer fans may appreciate the Staropramen brewery on the other side. Some may find this off-putting, especially at night, but we felt perfectly safe. On the positive side, Andel itself has a lively shopping centre with plenty of bars and restaurants, a few minutes' walk away.

Overall, a good budget option if you don't mind being out of the centre of Prague.
