Microformats are open formats that are designed to allow the unique naming of frequently used website elements (calendar, virtual visiting cards, addresses etc.).

Some of the advantages of Micro formats are:

  • Linking and re-use of data
  • Platform-specific and flexible presentation of data
  • Better structured code
