Djerba - Tunis
Tunis
We arrived from the airport in the middle of the night, across bumpy roads, in a people carrier, in pitch black darkness. After a hair-raising 45 minutes we could see what we thought were large white cliffs on our right in the distance.... However they turned out to be the large hotel complexes. We were glad to end up at our hotel after dumping the rest of the occupants at successive hotels... We were even "gladder" to get to bed. When we awoke next morning it was to glorious sunshine and a truly magnificent view of the beach and the deep blue sea. we went for breakfast and had a day round the pool. We went on various excursions including one out to a camp where we saw the"real" Djerbians and ate their food and saw the shows ! One day I decided to hire a taxi when my wife decided to take things easy in the heat. The taxi arrived and I found that the driver spoke only French. However we conversed basically and he. on my request, took me out into the desert to see the real Djerba. He showed my that you would never be without food or water so we ate dates off the trees and he found cactus which he crushed to get the liquid. It was a wonderful afternoon exploring and it only cost £10 !! (I did give him a tip as well!) We met the real, real Djerbans this time and I tried cooked camels legs and wine ! We enjoyed Tunisia a lot and returned the following year but stayed up near Monastir which was not as good as Djerba Djerba is a great place for a holiday >>>>>>>>> (TTFan Huntly (Snaefell), 27-01-2012)

Fresh K Salad Shop - Tunis
Rue du Lac Biwa
Tunis
It is not easy to eat healthy in Tunisia. This gap is now closed by this Fresh salad-bar. The place is located in Lac I on the lake-road across the street to restaurant Milton. The concept is that you can create your on salad with the ingredient of personnel preference. First you pick a pre-packed basic green lettuce. They offer a couple of different mixtures of lettuce. Then you proceed to the salad bar where you can chose between 30 different toppings . Chicken, fish, meat, corn, tomatoes, cheese, carrots, ... you name it. At the end you can choose your preferred dressing from about 8 variants like honey-mustard or cesar. The base-lettuce is about 5 TND and the toppings vary from 0,4 to 3 TND. In the end you will end up around 12-16 TND for a salad. That is not cheap for Tunisia were a pizza is about 5TND but it a very tasty and healthy alternative to all the greasy Tunisian food. The restaurant is also very nicely decorated and completely non-smoking! (derpicknicker, 21-12-2011)

Sfax–Thyna International Airport - Sfax
3018 Şafāqis
Sfax Airport is basically one big hall covering departures and arrivals on one level. There are mainly local flights and to neighboring countries as Libya. There is a small coffee shop at check-in which is sometimes open. (derpicknicker, 05-12-2011)

aéroport Tunis-Carthage - Tunis
Tunis
Quite small airport which concentrated on one building. In the upper level is check-in and departure with ticket-offices and a coffee. The lower level is arrival and also has coffee. You also find some sales-booth from local mobile networks. The check-in personnel is amazingly inefficient and can it take ages for a passenger (up to 10min), no matter if you are in the business class lane or not. After check-in, you have to pass a passport control (where you also have to hand in a filled departure card) and the final security check before reaching the gates. Sometimes the waiting lines at the passport-control are quite long and can take up to 30min which adds to the additional waiting time before security check. At the gates you have a duty-free shop as well as 4-5 other small stores. There are also two lounges, depending which airline you are on. The airport is not at all fancy place and you do not want to spend one unnecessary minute. Unfortunately you should plan some additional time as waiting time for check-in, passport control and security checks are unpredictable. (derpicknicker, 05-12-2011)

Friguia Park - Tunis
Route de Tunis Ain
Tunis
Went there June 2011. Slightly disappointed with the Zulu evening but still worth a visit. Make sure you get a good deal though from your holiday rep because it only costs £3.50 to enter the park and £8 for the Zulu evening. The cheeky people at First choice charged us over £40 each and it would only of cost the 3 of us less than £10 for a taxi each way (45 minutes journey)! Make sure you have plenty of change on you though to tip the zoo keepers because when no one is looking they will let you hold baby meerkats, feed the elephants etc etc which is a huge plus. The walk way that goes over the tigers, cheetah and lions is a must! Just make sure that you have plenty of drink and sensible shoes on as its a bit up and down and a bit of a trek on a blistering hot day : ) Hope it helps (danbearman, 30-06-2011)

Gabys Cafe - Sousse
Sousse
I have been to this beach cafe for the last 3 years on holiday staying at the royal kenz and found all the staff bend over backwards to to do every thing they can to make your meal a pleasure, try strawberrys and cream, it is a little know cafe in port el kantaoui on the beach near Hotel Ru Bellevue Park to the left as you face the beach, about 100 yrds, it is well worth a visit. Amphitheater El Djem - El Djem
5160 El Djem
Our visit here was on a coach tour and as soon as we got off the coach we were surrounded by hustlers trying to prise money from you for worthless goods. Once inside the amphitheatre though, we were very impressed both with the scale and state of preservation of the building. It was not difficult to imagine the horrific scenes that would have been considered spectator sport in its heyday. (rogerbrookes, 06-03-2011)

tej marhaba hotel - Sousse
Ave Taibe M´Hiri
Sousse
A hotel with wonderful amenities including it´s own disco (away from the accommodation), beautiful pool, elegant bars and lounges with well trained, polite and helpful staff. It was a secure haven from the hustle, bustle and annoying experiences of strangers trying to sell you stuff, posing as "I work in your hotel" We even experienced this in Hammamet, more than an hours train ride from our hotel !!!! A fine hotel in a country I did not really like. (rogerbrookes, 02-03-2011)
