“ 1star is doing them a favour! If there was an option for 0 stars that's what I'd click. When I ordered in October 2012, there were no reviews that I could find anywhere. After ordering, the other review on google came up. I thought maybe he was unlucky and it's a one off. I was wrong. Today I have finally got my £850 back (10/04/13), not via a refund, but because I asked my credit card company to do a charge back as they never delivered my furniture. God knows what we would have done if I had paid cash or debit card. We R wood ltd and the shop in Bakewell, heart of england ltd are the same cowboys. Please do not order with either of these! They had no intention of delivering what I had ordered. They never called us once in the 6 months we were waiting, we had to call them to find anything out. and they only answer the phone once every 30-40 attemps. If they put as much effort into making furniture as they do creating excuses, then they might have a good business! Reasons my order was delayed: The girl I ordered with has left the company and she's left the paperwork in a mess. It's now winter so the wax is taking too long to dry. We haven't told them what handles we wanted (it was on the order). We couldn't contact you (they have 2 email addresses and 2 phone numbers). The guy that knows about our order was out at the moment. They finally told me they were going to deliver, they never showed up. When I asked why, he said the driver went to cornwall instead! Spend your money somewhere else! (d_smith200, 10-04-2013) 1

“ I purchased two lovely coats from this store when visiting Bakewell back in September of this year. The staff were very helpful whilst I was in store, however, their contact online and by phone is very poor. A matching hat was available to go with one of the coats I purchases but was out of stock. The owner took my contact details and informed me that she would order it in during the next couple of weeks when it became available, and mail it on. I have left telephone messages (no-one ever answers and sometimes the mailbox is full), and sent numerous emails to the website contact address and never received a reply. I did receive a text message, some week's ago, from the owner, stating that she would try to get the hat. Since then, after texting and further emails, I have heard nothing. I have indicated in my correspondence that if the product is not available please let me know and I will draw a line under the matter, rather than keep wasting my time. I have also asked, that since it is only a small item, if they do not have time to deal with it, could they give me the name of the stockist. They still have not done me the courtesy of giving me a reply. I feel that they are extremely helpful whilst in the store spending money, I spent £400.00, but their after sales service, and their communication is extremely poor. iI have found trying to contact them extremely frustrating and time wasting, to the point where I would not purchase from them again. “ I have both bought in store and shopped off of their website and have been thoroughly satisfied on both occasions. The shop itself has a very attractive look and the moment you step into the shop, your nose is filled with a gorgeous scent. The range of products is excellent and very fairly priced and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My favourite purchased items are the teas and the scented room sachets. When delivered the packages I bought on-line, I could see immediately that a lot of care and thought had been put into the packing. “ We recently enjoyed a meal at the Ashford Arms prior to going to a folk concert.As it was on the Early Bird menu,we didn't expect it to be very special.How wrong we were!!The food was absolutely delicious,the service was excellent and we'll certainly go again.Highly recommended!! “ I visited the Cafe this morning having made a considerable detour on bike ride.  The place is living on former glory.  I was served by a slovenly girl who wiped her nose at least three times on her sleeve before bothering herself to serve me.  The tea was just hot water and milk, the bacon in my sandwich was the cheapest, saltiest available.  Horrible.I shall find a new Cafe for future trips our. “ Right in the centre of Bakewell is this wonderful store selling Kashmir crafts and art work. All handmade, this is definitely a place to come for that gift that is little bit different and is of the highest quality. Wooden hand-crafted letter racks, elephants, ornate wooden boxes and fabulous Christmas decorations. Hand embroidered handbags and purses, brightly coloured fine woollen scarves are ever present. This is a must visit for us on our frequent journeys to Bakewell. The owner is friendly and the prices are very reasonable too. My one regret is that once Purdys had the most beautifully carved wooden chess set, I didn't buy it on the day and when I went back, of course it had gone, and they've never had another!
