Brunel University - Uxbridge
Uxbridge
London UB8 3PH
Brunel University is well located in Uxbridge West London. The university recently went through a modernisation whereby the student union, library and other buildings through the campus have had a facelift. There has also been major construction work on producing many new student halls. The result is good and with most of the building work complete it feels like a new university. The university also closed down its other campuses in Runnymeade and Osterly to become a single campus university, this helps to build better integration. Overall the teaching on campus is pretty good and the library is well stocked. However one draw back is that Uxbridge can be pretty boring in terms of night life. But then central London is only a stones throw away, and a night bus runs from central London to Uxbridge so you can always get home! (pluk87, 16-04-2009)

We have been using Blockbuster for online rental for over 2 years now and are generally very pleased with them. We get the 3 DVD's at a time bundle so we almost always have a DVD to watch. They send the films out in an envelope with a card with the film name and your address on one side and then the return address on the other so you simply turn the card around and send back in the same envelope it arrived in meaning minimum materials wastage. You create a list on the website and they send out films off that list. You very often get a film the day it is released if it is at the top of the list. they also end series of programs out in the correct order. Turnaround is generally very good and you will be sent a new film out the day they receive one you have watched back. We had a brief poor spell from them last Summer when it took them a week to send us anything out. I suspect there was an offer or something on and they were overloaded. (littlelaura77, 21-01-2009)

The Body Shop - Uxbridge
8 Chequers square
London UB8 1LN
I do not like The Body Shop mainly because they are too expensive compared to somewhere like Boots. I do love going in there and smelling all the soaps n stuff but never end up buying anything as they are too expensive, Im surprise they are still around. (Lauralilyplus, 29-11-2008)

Debenhams - Uxbridge
116 The Chimes shopping centre

Excellent choice of clothes for men, women and children although the children's clothes department could be bigger. I do not like the restaurant in Debenhams way too expensive and very low quality food. Although when my daughter was a baby we would go to Debenhams as they have excellent baby facilities like microwave, and breat feeding areas but only get a cuppa and a slice of cake at the most! HMV - Uxbridge
The Chimes Shopping Centre
London UB8 1GD
I love HMV in Uxbridge. I spend all my freetime in this store spending money on games and DVD's! I once tried to take my bed in there so I could sleep overnight, but I was removed from the store! (Killjoys!!!) Visit HMV in Uxbridge and you'll never want to leave! (crispynewt36, 26-11-2008)

Sports World - Uxbridge
26 chequers square
London UB8 1LN
This Sports World in Uxbbridge must be one of the smallest in England. Inside they have crammed in as much stock as they can making the store so cramped that it is difficult to find anything. It's impossible to get in there with a pushchair and I certainly can't recommend taking small children in there as they seem to disappear amongst the clothes. This store stocks the most popular lines but not everything is available in all sizes. It's worth popping in if you are shopping in Uxbridge but it is certainly not worth making a special trip for. It's better to visit a bigger Sports World. (xxdeebeexx, 21-11-2008)

W H Smith - Uxbridge
148 High Street
London UB8 1JY
This is quite a big branch of WH Smith on two levels. Down stairs are the magazines, newspapers and stationary and upstairs are the dvd's, cd's , gifts and books. There is quite a reasonable range of gifts but this particular store seems to stock a wide selection of dvd's. In the past I have always managed to find 'hard to get' dvd's in this branch. I particularly like the arts and crafts section as they offer some reasonably priced childrens art sets. (xxdeebeexx, 21-11-2008)

Republic - Uxbridge
223-224 The Chimes shopping centre
London UB8 1GD
Good deals if you need two or more items, like jeans and a sweater. The clothing is urbanistic and good quality. I think they get shoplifted quite often since I picked up a pair of gloves to try on and they were full of broken security tags. Usually well organized and stocked. (jacoholico, 21-11-2008)

Next - Uxbridge
London UB8 1LH
I am not increadibly fond of this Next. They seem to have a sale every week and the clothing is usually very mixed on the racks. The menswear line is hidden in the ground floor and I could not find any housewares. If you are lazy they have the mall escalator just outside and you can ride it instead of using the instore stairs. GAP - Uxbridge
207 The Chimes shopping centre
London UB8 1UB
Nice and simple clothing with very good quality. This store has a very functional layout and is kept very tidy. The prices are higher than other similar stores. I got a pair of work trousers and shirt and they have been my favourite so far. Look out for the sales, I was a bit disappointed since the US stores seem to have lower prices. There is a large kids section on the upper floor and mens and ladies are on the ground floor. (jacoholico, 21-11-2008)
